“Friend . . . Partner . . . Ll . . Brother . . . Will you trust me?”

Trust me . . . Trust me . . . Trust me echoed off the walls of the cave as Bruce waited for an answer.

“What?” Dick asked.

“I said . . .”

“I know what you said,” Dick interrupted. “It’s what you didn’t say. What you almost said. What you wanted to say. Say it. Tell me.”

Tell me . . . Tell me . . . Tell me . . .

Bruce frowned and turned away. “I can’t,” he said.

“How can I trust you if you can’t tell me this one thing?” he asked as he stepped in front of Bruce. He put his hand on his shoulder and looked up into his eyes. “Tell me,” he pleaded. “Please.”

Please . . . Please . . . Please . . .

Bruce felt trapped. He looked up into Dick’s pleading eyes and knew that he couldn’t deny him this one thing. He sighed in resignation. “I was going to say . . .”

“Yes,” Dick prompted tightening his grip on Bruce’s shoulder reassuringly.

“I was going to say . . . lover,” he whispered.

Lover . . . Lover . . . Lover . . . echoed softly off the walls.

Dick’s eyes widened in surprise. Bruce moved to turn away but he was pulled into a searing kiss. Bruce was too surprised to even respond. When Dick broke the kiss it left them both shocked and breathless.

“I didn’t think that you felt the same way,” Dick said.

“Then you thought wrong. We both thought wrong.” Bruce said. “Do you trust me now?”

“With my life, everything, but . . .”

“But what?” Bruce asked his heart dropping.

“Everything but my virginity,” Dick said grinning slyly.

Bruce burst out laughing. Startled bats flew around the room in a frenzy as the deep laughter echoed off the walls. Dick quieted Bruce desperately by capturing his lips in another kiss. This time Bruce responded eagerly leaving no part of Dick’s mouth unexplored. They pulled back breathlessly once more.

Bruce grinned down at his soon to be lover. “Now before we do anything else, I believe we have some bad guys to catch.”

Hmm, well that was my take on the 'Trust me' scene from the Batman and Robin movie.
