Fatal Fury:
Start Anew

Disclaimer: Cute as they are and as much as I wish, I don't own them.

Warning: There are Spoilers in here! If you haven't seen Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture you might not want to read this.

Notes: I have this habit of fixing the ends of movies. I think Terry deserves love but then I'm a yaoi writer and I like Laokorn, even if he is the bad guy. Matt Hill plays his voice actor, how can I resist? So here you have it, my ending to the Fatal Fury movie. It's set a year after the movie.

"Sulia," Terry whispered into the pillow. It had been almost a year since her death and it still stung like a freshly opened wound. First Lily, then Sulia. Was it destined for all his lovers to die? Was it his fate to be the 'Lone Wolf' forever?

As he wallowed in his self-pity a knock sounded at the door. He idly wondered who it could be. He'd just bought this tiny apartment and nobody knew where it was, not even Andy. He decided to not answer the door. It was probably just some salesman and he really wasn't in the mood to be dealing with people right now. But whoever was at the door was persistent. They continued to knock and refused to go away.

Finally not being able to stand the pounding any longer he got up and walked to the door. Just as he got there the knocking stopped. He opened the door anyway. He was saw a person slowly walking away with their head bent. As the door opened they turned slightly to glance at it.

"Sulia?" Terry whispered shocked.

But when the person turned around fully he saw that it was not Sulia. "Laokorn," Terry spat. Laokorn, Sulia's twin brother, the reason that Sulia was dead.

"Terry Bogard," Laokorn said softly.

"I thought you were dead," Terry said coldly.

"I was burned by the fires yes, but I managed to throw up a shield in time to save my life." Laokorn explained. "I was very badly burnt. The soldiers came and I was brought to the hospital where I went through many operations to save my life. Then I required plastic surgery to fix my body."

"So you got to live, while Sulia died. It should have been you," Terry growled.

Laokorn blanched at the cold glare he received. "A-as soon as I got out of the hospital I started looking for you," Laokorn told him.

"Why? Why did you look for me? I don't want to see you," Terry sneered.

"I-I wanted to talk to you about Sulia. I wanted to say I'm sorry," Laokorn said cautiously.

"You are not fit to speak her name!" Terry declared stepping back into his apartment.

"Wait!" Laokorn called hand outstretched.

"Why should I? What do you want?" Terry snarled.

Laokorn snatched his hand to his heart as though bitten. "I h-have something to tell you."

"What could you possibly have to say to me that I would want to hear?" Terry asked bitterly.

"It's about Sulia," Laokorn said once more.

Terry tensed up. "So you've said."

"C-could I just come in and talk to you for a minute please?" Laokorn pleaded.

"I don't want you in my home," Terry replied.

"Please?" Laokorn asked pitifully, looking close to tears.

Terry took a deep breath. He looked so much like Sulia. It was painful to look at him. And now that he pleaded, Terry seemed to be caving in. "Alright," he said "you can come in and say what you have to say and then leave."

"Thank you," Laokorn said softly.

"You expect me to believe that you are Sulia?!" Terry yelled at the shivering figure on his couch. "Do you think me stupid? How dare you pull a stunt like this? Who do you think you are?" Terry raged.

"Please!" Laokorn cried out holding his are in front of him in a weak attempt to block the words. "Please you don't understand."

"Oh I understand alright. This is some sort of sick joke. Well I'm not laughing. Get out of my home. Get out while I let you live!" Terry snarled.

"It's the truth! Think about it! Think about the bond between you and your brother! Is it so impossible to believe? Please…" Laokorn begged. He was crying by now. Crystal tears running down his cheeks as he cowered from the enraged Bogard.

Terry blinked as he saw Laokorn's image replaced by Sulia's. What if maybe, just maybe, he was telling the truth? What if his body was housing Sulia's soul? Laokorn claimed that his sister's soul had taken up residence in his body after she died. He insisted that it was the only reason he survived his injuries, because his sister was with him guiding him. Healing him. Loving him. He said that Sulia told him to seek Terry out.

Terry thought of his bond with his brother Andy. If one of them died, surely they would stay around to guard the other. That was the bond they shared. So what if what Laokorn said was true? But then again, what if it wasn't? Terry stood over the couch plagued with indecision. Slowly his rage boiled down and he stood like a man who had lost his purpose. What should he do? Was this his love returned to him? Or was it a cruel prank?

"I-I'm not saying that I am Sulia. I'm saying that she is a part of me. We were always a part of each other. Like Yin and Yang. Eternally intertwined. Each part containing a piece of the other." Laokorn said quietly.

Silence stretched before them like eternity. Terry came to several important decisions before he finally began to speak.

"I was all set to hate you." Terry said quietly. "You are the reason that Sulia's dead. But there is too much of Sulia in you. I cannot hate one without hating the other. But on the same coin, can I love one without loving the other?"

Terry's eyes shone with indecision. Laokorn could see the battle raging in his heart, in his soul. Laokorn also came to a decision. He slowly stood up and began to walk to the door. He didn't want to be the one to cause such pain. Because he loved Terry as much as his sister did. They had shared that even before their souls became one. Laokorn had fallen for this man. He had been jealous of his sister. But now that he was here before him his resolve faltered. If all he did was cause pain, he would leave. He loved this man that much.

"Wait" Terry's soft voice called. Laokorn froze in his tracks. "Please don't go."

Laokorn turned around slowly to find that Terry was right behind him. He looked up and could see that Terry had made up his mind. Gentle arms enfolded him in a strong embrace. Laokorn melted into the embrace and soon the tears began to flow anew. He cried for loss. He cried for joy. He cried for pain. But most of all he cried for love.

He looked up slowly and noticed the tears that were running down Terry's cheeks. Laokorn's eyes clouded over. His mouth opened and a beautiful echoing voice spoke. "Terry," the voice echoed.

"Lily? Sulia?" Terry whispered awed. It was both of their voices speaking in sync.

"Please don't cry anymore," the voice whispered from Laokorn's mouth. "You've cried for too long. It is time to put the past behind you and live and love again. This is our gift to you Terry. His love for you is true. He is under our protection so you need not fear to love again. Please for us accept this chance. Terry we can't stand to see you in pain. If you love again we can rest easier. But don't do it for us Terry. Do it for you."

"Terry," the voice whispered changing from the echoed voices of Lily and Sulia to just Sulia.

"Yes, Sulia?"

"Please take care of my brother," Sulia whispered. And with those final words Laokorn's body collapsed in Terry's arms.

Terry watched as Laokorn slept. He was having trouble absorbing all that had happened to him. Only hours earlier he had been wallowing in self-pity and now after a disturbing visit from Laokorn and a ghostly visit from his past loves he had another chance at love. But was he brave enough to take it? Love had slipped through his fingers twice before. Could he risk it again? He wasn't sure but as he looked down at that sleeping face, he knew he would try.

The End.....For Now.

I like this story and it may continue sometime in the future.
