Duo. You are one of God’s most special creations. I know that you are a better man than I. Sometimes I am humbled by your presence. It’s funny but you don’t know just how good you are. You don’t believe me when I tell you that you are special. You think that since you are a soldier you are a bad person. But I know that isn’t true. Can’t you see how wonderful you really are?
And I cry so I can talk like this
From my downbeat existence

I am lying in bed staring at the ceiling. You are lying in the bed next to me. I’ve got to talk. I can’t hold it in any longer. I turn and watch you. I can tell that you can’t sleep either.
“Duo?” I call.
“Yes, Heero?” you ask
“I-I need to talk to you.” I say. You don’t mock me or make one of your usual jokes.
“You know I’m always here for you,” you say. I smile into the darkness. And then begin to pour my heart out to you. I feel like I am in confession and you are my priest. And then I can’t stop the tears from coming. They are part of my confession. I need to cry in order to get out the rest of my words. Suddenly there are arms around me and I look into those deep violet eyes that have captured my heart. I have one wish. Only you can grant that wish. The wish is pure, but am I?

Can I touch you with these bloody hands? Will I dirty you? Will the blood smear across your skin? Will I leave handprints of red? I am so soaked in this blood I shed. I don’t know. I just don’t know. I love you. Do I need your permission to love you? Is my love good enough for you? Or will it taint you with my sins?

You are such a wonderful person. Laying here in my bed. I caress your silky hair as it fans out around you. A small smile plays on your lips. So beautiful and you don’t even realize. That’s one of the reasons your so special. You don’t realize how beautiful you are. That is itself is beautiful. You are not conceited. You are so innocent and yet not.

Does it pain you to see me break down like this? I am usually the strong one. But I am lost. I am always lost.
