D’Arrêt chapter 7: Dead Souls
-----------------------------------------------------------------
One year later~~
Tohru watched as Yuki silently walked out of his room and into Kyou’s vacant
room. It was a daily ritual that Yuki went through every day, so as to not
forget the baka neko. Tohru clutched her hands to her heart and bowed her head.
What she wouldn’t give to relive that day, she’d have gladly given herself if
it meant making Yuki and Kyou both happy. She looked up and sighed as she
walked down stairs to start her morning cleaning before she left for school.
As she stepped down onto the bottom stair she felt something amiss, there was
something different about the air. She looked around and clutched her fist. She’d
gotten used to using her feline form, and was very skilled at making certain
body parts transform while keeping the others the same. Her specialty was
forming her right claw and using it instead of her fist.
She was about to unclench her fist when she saw the door was slid open. Her
eyes opened wide as Yuki screamed upstairs. She turned to run upstairs, and
came face to face with Kotek. Her hair was longer by two inches, but was still
a mess. Her eyes were more fierce, her clothes more revealing. She sneered and
grabbed Tohru by the face and slammed her back into the way opposite her.
"Did you think we’d let you live? Did you think we’d disappoint Akito-sama
like that?! You really thought we meant to let you live! You did! Well now it’s
time to pay, time to pay for making us have to hide! You clumsy bitch!"
Kotek kicked Tohru in the gut and growled as she lifted Tohru to her feet by
her hair. She tossed Tohru up into the air so she hit the ceiling, then fell to
the ground with a loud thud.
"Wh...wh...who... is up... stairs?"
"Kissa." Kotek grabbed Tohru by the shirt and drug her to the stairs.
She tossed her up to the top and stalked up after her. Tohru tried to stand,
but her legs gave way and she fell. As she fell she balled her fist and it
transformed into a claw. Kotek went to snatch her up again, but this time Tohru
was ready. She landed her fist in Kotek’s stomach and sent her flying through
the wall into the room where Kissa was fighting Yuki.
It was surprising, to say the least, when Tohru found Yuki standing tall and
proud with Kissa on the ground holding her stomach. Then a thought occurred to
her. He was the mouse, he would always win against the cat. He only had to
actually try to fight.
"I’ll ask you again. Where is Kyou?" Yuki glared at Kissa and watched
as she stood up in time with Kotek. The two growled and attacked their targets
again. Before any punches or kicks landed, the wall to the house was knocked
in, revealing Kyou and Katze when the smoke cleared away. Yuki and Tohru stared
at their former friend who now stood along side the enemy. Tohru went to say
something, but stopped when Kyou gave her an icy glare.
"I’m here to fight you Yuki, and to beat you." Kyou turned to Yuki
and smirked. Yuki straightened himself out and looked at his former lover. The
two stared at each other for a few moments, then attacked. Tohru watched as the
other three dropped their guard to watch the fight. She ground her teeth
together as she jumped forward and tackled Katze. The force of their bodies
colliding sent them flying out the hole Kyou and Katze had entered through to
the ground below.
Tohru twisted her body so she was on top of Katze as they fell. She glared
down, then smirked.
"Not all cats land feet first." Tohru huddled her body against Katze
as they hit the ground. The impact tossed her over Katze and onto the ground.
She skidded on her side, the impact not half as bad as it would have been if
she’d fallen on her own. She extended her claws and dug them into the dirt as
she slid along to stop herself. As she slowed, she tossed her hair over her
shoulder and looked at Katze. She lay on the ground, not moving, blood seeping
from the back of her head and her mouth.
---
Kyou knocked Yuki into a wall and looked down out the hole. Seeing Katze on the
ground, dead, he turned to Kissa and motioned for her to go down and pick up
where Katze had left off. He then turned back to Yuki as he sent a kick towards
his head and caught his leg easily. Kotek watched as Kissa jumped down out the
hole. She didn’t see why Kyou hadn’t sent her to finish the job. She was, after
all, the strongest out of all of the females. Kyou had proven to be stronger,
not that it mattered.
Instead of tossing Yuki to the side like Kotek and Yuki thought Kyou would, he
gently placed it on the ground and turned to Kotek. Her eyes became slits as
she glared at him. She had figured it out. He’d remembered everything.
"Did you really think I’d forget? Did you think I’d forget Yuki? My
hatred? My enemy?..." Kyou walked up and stood right beside Kotek. He
looked down at the shorter girl who kept staring straight ahead, keeping her
eyes off of him. She balled her fists up and ground her teeth together.
"You lied... you made us think... that you were one of us..."
"Did you think I’d forget my lover? My life? MY YUKI?"
