Point D’Arrêt chapter 5: Slept So Long

Kotek, Kissa, and Katze sat, perched in threes around the house Shigure lived in. They had followed him home, not making a single sound as they had jumped from tree to tree, roof to roof, and light post to light post. They were perfect killers. Now they sat and waited for the right time to strike.

Yuki woke up to the sound of an alarm clock. His eyes opened slowly, letting the slightest hint of light invade his sleepy eyes. He sat up, still on the floor, and blinked. At some interval in the night, Kyou must have pulled a blanket to them because he was wrapped in a large quilt. He distangled himself from the blanket and walked to Kyou’s dresser, pulling out the first outfit he found.

Kyou wouldn’t mind that he was borrowing his clothes. He smiled to himself, then hurridly dressed himself. He walked out of the room and hopped down the stairs. Yes, hopped. As he landed at the bottom, Shigure and Kyou came into view just feet from him. They were arguing about... something, then stopped talking to look at Yuki. Yuki blinked.

"Good morning Yuki... Why are you wearing Kyou-kun’s clothes?? Tell Kyou that he needs new clothes, make him go shopping!" Shigure pouted and watched as Yuki turned to Kyou. Yuki opened his mouth to speak, but didn’t have a chance to say anything.

"Fine! I’ll go!"

Tohru opened her eyes and gasped in pain. She sat up in bed and looked around. How had she gotten into a nice, comfortable bed? The door to the room opened and her grandfather came in.

"You’re awake. I hope that incident at work didn’t hurt you too bad." Tohru blinked. Incident... at work? As the words flowed through her mind, it began to make sense. She had been at work cleaning and had been startled by something. She’d jumped back, hitting a bookcase, and it’d fallen on her, trapping her under it.

"H...hai..."

Kyou had gone off on his search for shoes while Yuki had gone to find him a few new shirts. He sighed. He’d been trying not to think of Tohru, but his mind kept drifting to her. He felt odd, shopping with Yuki and not having her with them worrying about when they would fight next. If she could see them like this, would she be happy for them or completely disgusted because they were together? A doubt entered Kyou’s mind. What if Yuki were just using him as a temporary replacement for Tohru.

He sighed and continued his search when he realized it was really quiet. Certainly there had to have been lots of females from school shopping for new clothes. He looked around, no one was in sight. Martial artist instincts took over. When in a place that is normally crowded and there isn’t a soul near by something bad was going to happen.

Momiji looked at Hatori. His eyes were open wide, was what Hatori told him true? He blinked. Truely it couldn’t be. Shigure sighed as he nodded to confirm Hatori. Haru and Momiji looked to each other, then to Ayame who was in just as much shock over the news.

"Biologically engineered? and you say they all used to live... here? Then why don’t we remember?" Haru watched as Shigure looked to Hatori.

"Akito-san had Ha-san erase everyone’s memories... But you said there were four, and Momiji only saw three girls last night..."

"Haru-kun, Momiji-kun..... We’ve all seen the fourth one. She was created with a flaw, she was nice and did not want to fight. She also made us transform when she hugged us.

When she was young, she was playing in the garden, playing Fruits Basket, and bumped into Yuki. The other three grabbed her up, took her to Hatori and had her memory erased of everything. A new memory developed on it’s own and she was sent away. Hatori was made to erase everyone’s memories of what had happened and of the girls, and the girls left to train.

A year ago, the fourth girl’s adopted mother had decided that when she returned from work she would tell her daughter the truth. Akito found out and sent the three killers after the woman. It looked like a carwreck had killed her. The girl has been living in my house for a while now." Momiji, Haru, and Ayame all stared at Shigure. Tohru had been the fourth one? Then, she was a Souma as well? It was no wonder Akito hated her so much, because her presence could have messed everything up!

"There is something Akito didn’t realize when he had me erase Tohru’s memory last night... After erasing someone’s memory too much or after erasing a large portion of memory even twice... The victim will remember everything when something small triggers their memory."

Kyou was about to leave the shoe department when a girl jumped over one of the shoe displays and tackled him. She had chin length red hair and green eyes that were filled with primal fire. Her face suddenly became more feline like, and a black tail and cat ears appeared. Her hands became claws as she pinned his hands above his head.

Kyou growled as he pulled his leg up between the two of them and kicked her up. She was still holding onto his wrists, so she flew over his head and landed on her back. Kyou twisted and freed his hands from her grasp and glared at her.

Yuki screamed somewhere in the store, sending chills down Kyou’s spine. He turned in the direction of the scream and took off running, he had to save Yuki. He had to protect him.

Tohru’s eyes opened wide at the sight of the red cap sitting on the chair near her bed. Visions filled her head, visions of Yuki and Kyou, of the other Soumas... Vissions of her child hood filled her head, everything was coming back to her...

"Kyou is in danger..."
