Mind Games: Chapter 2- Void

ChiChi watched as Bulma carefully lifted Goten onto the stretcher and had a few doctors carry him down to the air car she was going to use to transport him to Capsule Corp. Bulma sighed as ChiChi looked at Goten with watery eyes. She was glad she had left Trunks at the house so he could get some rest. He had stayed up almost all night working on the machine she was going to use to get into Goten’s head. Bra had stayed up all night, too afraid to sleep. ChiChi walked out of the room after the doctors and followed them to the car. Bulma looked over at Goten’s desk and noticed an envelope addressed to Trunks on it. She walked over and picked the envelope up. She licked her lips as she placed it in her pocket and left the room. A second later she came back into the room and stuck her hand under Goten’s pillow. She remembered Trunks and Goten saying that they both kept a special card under their pillows, a tarot card to be exact. She grabbed the card and carefully pulled it out. She blinked as she lifted the pillow and found two more cards. She looked at all three cards for a second. They were Universe, Strength, and Death.

“Kami… What’s up with these boys…” She placed the three cards in her pocket as well and then left the room. She quickly shut the door after her and then took off down the stairs. In no time they were off for Capsule Corp.

Goku paced back and forth. They were four weeks away from Earth and it was killing him to be this far from home. It killed him to know that something as evil as Teth was on his way there. He took a deep breath and turned to Vegeta who was sitting in a chair reading a book that he had seen Trunks reading a few times. Vegeta growled as he marked his place in the book and then walked over to Goku.

“When that fool Teth gave his name, I knew I either heard or seen the name somewhere. And now I know where. In this damned book Trunks is always reading. It’s a Hebrew name. It goes along with five other things. A path, a number, a letter, a sign, and a tarot card.” Vegeta watched as Goku nodded. Gohan walked over to the two and sighed as he fished two cards out of his back pocket and held them up for the two to see. They were the Justice card and the Wheel of fortune card. Vegeta looked at the two cards and then to Gohan. He took the two cards from Gohan and then opened the book back up.

“I already know what they stand for. Justice is the driven/just card. Wheel of fortune is the wise card. One of our friends, Rai, had a ton of the cards, a few different decks. She picked the cards that she said fit us the most. Then she vanished… well, we haven’t seen her since” Gohan placed the two cards back into his pocket and then looked out the window. He sighed as a shooting star passed the ship, as if headed right for Earth. He suddenly felt the strangest ki he’d ever sensed. It was very powerful, but so different from any other ki he had ever known of. He blinked as Goku and Vegeta joined him at the window. They watched as the ‘star’ vanished.

Goten stepped onto a large platform and turned around to see if he was being followed. He licked his lips as the wind shifted around him. He heard something fall in a corner and turned to see what it was. A girl stood with her hands on her hips. She blinked as she placed both her hands behind her head and walked over to Goten. She raised an eyebrow as she walked around him.

“Where am I?” Goten looked at the girl who smiled and floated up. She touched his forehead and then laughed as she landed on the ground. There was a sudden jolt in the area around them and she hid behind his leg. She dug in her pocket for something, but couldn’t find it.

“Someone is coming… Maybe we should hide.” The girl blinked and looked up at Goten. They were both suddenly standing on a glass floor above a lake of fire. Both wore the same gi style that Goten had worn back when he was a kid. A door appeared out of no where, making Goten look down at the girl. She shrugged as the door opened and a teenage Bra stepped into the room.

“Goten, I’m glad I found you again. Listen, do you know what’s going on?” Bra walked over to Goten and placed her frail arms around him. The little girl watched as Bra’s face suddenly became distorted. She jumped up and kicked Bra away from Goten. She stood between the two and kept her head held high as she looked at Bra.

“She’s not real,” the girl turned to Goten and floated up to look him square in the eyes, “this isn’t real.” The girl suddenly turned into the man and he began to laugh. Bra vanished and the floor began to crack underneath Goten. The demi Saiyan tried to fly off, but found that he couldn’t. He began to panic as the glass cracked more and the split grew larger by the second. The man grinned evilly as he floated up off of the glass.

“WHO ARE YOU! You said you’d tell, now spill.”

“My name… my name is revenge. I am strength. They call me Teth.” Teth landed on the glass and it suddenly came back together. Teth laughed as he swayed his head from side to side as he looked at Goten. Goten took a step back and fell off the floor. He found himself falling towards the flames, but landed on a bed. He sat up and saw Trunks standing in the doorway. Goten laughed as he jumped up and ran over to where Trunks stood. Trunks turned around and shoved Goten down on the bed. Goten’s eyes opened wide as Trunks kissed him roughly. Goten then remembered what the ‘girl’ had said. He screamed and reached under his pillow. He drew a large gun out from under the pillow and bit down on Trunks’ bottom lip. He let up off of Trunks’ lip and kicked him off of him. He then fired the gun at him, and smiled as he fell against the wall.

“What is this place, Teth?”

“The only place where not even Rai can get to you.”

Trunks and Bra walked into the room where their mother had the machine set up where they were going to go into Goten’s head. Trunks coughed and Bulma turned to him. She fished the letter out of her pocket and then handed it to Trunks. She took the three tarot cards out of her pocket as well and then placed them on the place where Goten’s head would be. She watched as Trunks opened the letter and sat down on a sofa to read it.

Dearest Trunks,

I’m sorry for what I did, I shouldn’t have kissed you without permission. I understand if you never want to speak to me again, but please take the time to read any letters I send you. See, when we met Rai, I went to her to see if she could read my tarot to see who I would end up with in the end of everything. It turned out that there were two possible paths. One was for you and I to be together, the other was for me to be with a girl named Paris. I think I’d prefer you, but if it never happens I guess Paris, who ever she is, would have to do. I hope you forgive me, even if it takes a while for you to forgive me. I’d rather live knowing we were friends, than living knowing I couldn’t even have your friendship. Well, I’ll cut my letter shorter than I wanted to, mostly because right now you probably want to rip my head off. I hope to talk to you later Truchan…

“Mom, who is going in to find him?” Trunks looked up from the letter with tears in his eyes. Bulma pointed to herself and then blinked. Trunks shoved the letter in his pocket and shook his head no. He walked over and began to get himself connected to the machine.

“Trunks, what are you doing?”

“I know Goten better than you do mom. Besides, it’s probably my fault this happened. I want to help him.” Trunks finished prepping himself for the excursion into Goten’s mind. He licked his lips and lay back on the table. Bulma hurried everyone into the glass room that was adjoined to the room Trunks and Goten were in. Trunks fished his two tarot cards out of his jacket pocket and then took his jacket off. He lay back down with the two cards under his head. He closed his eyes and waited for the procedure to take place. Bra pressed her hands against the glass and shook her head.

“TRUNKS! When you see Goten, tell him he is in control! It’s his mind!” Bra watched as Trunks raised his hand to tell her ok. His hand suddenly dropped down and went limp. Bulma sighed as she pressed a button and a red light came on in the room. Bra gripped her jacket and watched as Trunks’ breathing slowed to match Goten’s. She turned to ChiChi and Bulma who were both monitoring Trunks’ progress on a computer screen. Bulma was explaining to ChiChi what everything meant, and then showed ChiChi where Goten’s brains waves were.

Once again the two Saiyans and the demi Saiyan could see the ‘star’ that was headed for Earth. It was traveling faster than they were, but every now and then they could see the ‘star’. Gohan suddenly got an idea and ran over to the control panel and punched in a few commands. He groaned when their speed didn’t pick up. He kicked the control panel and sighed as he floated up into the air. Vegeta and Goku watched as the stars streaked past them. Vegeta was, visibly, getting impatient and wanted to get back to Earth. Goku sighed as he sat down and began to meditate. Gohan followed his father’s lead and sat down as well. His cell phone rang suddenly, making everyone turn to the bag Gohan had brought along. The cell phone wasn’t supposed to work unless they were within a 100-mile radius of one of Earth’s satellites. Gohan took a deep breath as he walked over and picked up the phone.

“Hello?”

“Listen Gohan, your brother’s life is in danger. I know you have a faster way to get to Earth.” The girl on the other end of the line suddenly hung up the phone before Gohan could say another word. He hung his phone up and then looked at both Vegeta and Goku.

“Do we have a faster way to get home?”

Trunks walked down a narrow hall side ways so he could squeeze through. He took a deep breath when he finally came to the end of the hall and emerged into a large white room. He watched as a girl stepped out of a lone shadow and walked into the middle of the room. She had blue hair cut like his and green eyes. She wore the same style of gi uniform that Goten had back when the two were kids. Trunks watched as the girl cracked her knuckles and began fighting wind. She stopped suddenly and looked at him as he took a step forward.

“You’re looking for him aren’t you. Well, you won’t find him here. You’re name is Trunks. Come on Trunks, I can lead you through here. Come, follow me.” The girl suddenly turned and took off running towards a wall. She brought her hands up and then floated up. She screamed as she went Super Saiyan and blasted the wall. Trunks took a deep breath as he followed the girl through the hole. They walked into a room where a boy who looked just like the girl, only in the gi uniform Trunks used to wear, was sitting in a teenager’s lap. The girl had shoulder length black hair and black eyes. She wore a pair of tight vinyl black pants with a black spaghetti strapped shirt. The girl smiled as she held a phone up and tossed it to Trunks. He caught it and it suddenly began ringing. Trunks answered it and heard Goten moaning on the other end.

“What in the hell is this?” Trunks threw the phone on the floor and the girl stood up. The twins suddenly looked three years older, while the girl remained her looking the same. Trunks licked his lips as the floor suddenly turned into glass. The girl turned to a door and waved for everyone to follow her. They walked into the room and were suddenly sitting in a classroom. The twins were fifteen, and sitting up front in clothes that were all black. The girl was slouched down in her chair while the boy was trying not to doze off. The teacher walked into the room and glared at the two.

“Rowan, Niku. Front and center! I can’t believe it, children of a wealthy family and this is how you spend your school days. It’s the chains for you!” The woman brought out a chain and slapped the boy, Niku, across the face with it. The girl glared as she yanked the chain away from the woman and kicked her. The woman fell out a window and the class began to cheer. The teacher suddenly walked through the wall and grabbed the girl, Rowan, by the throat. She threw her into a desk and then began killing the students. The other girl who had led them to the room jumped up and screamed for the teacher to stop. Rowan watched as the windows suddenly ‘grew’ spikes. The teacher grabbed Niku and held him up. She tossed him towards the window and then he landed on a glass floor.

Rowan looked around as she heard deep laughter rolling around the room. She looked to the black haired girl who blinked. Trunks took a deep breath and turned to his left. He was suddenly in a different room without the three he had just met. Sitting on a bed was Goten. Trunks sighed as he walked over to Goten and sat down on the bed. Goten looked at him and smiled as he crawled forward. Goten moved his head so his lips brushed against Trunks’ left cheek and then his right. Trunks grabbed Goten’s wrist, but Goten pushed Trunks down on the bed. Trunks watched as Goten’s face suddenly blurred out and another blurred in. The man on top of Trunks laughed and brought a dagger down into Trunks’ throat.

“My name is Teth… If you’re here to steal my Goten, then you will find that I am a harder opponent than you would like to fight.”

Bulma watched as Trunks sat straight up and grabbed his neck. He breathed heavily as he almost started to cry as he looked over at Goten. ChiChi ran into the room and began questioning Trunks about what had happened. Trunks then remembered the other three and stood up. He walked into the room where his mother was replaying the data that she had collected. He pointed to three different brain waves and looked up at his mother.

“I saw three people in there with me. Twins who were Saiyans and a black haired girl who had a strong ki. I came in contact with the person responsible for what happened to Goten. His name is Teth.”

“I’ve finally arrived. Teth, you are mine.” A girl with long white hair stepped out of a space pod. She had piercing green eyes and wore an all white outfit with armor. Her shirt was tanktop style, except for the see through sleeves attached. Her pants were like the pants to a gi. Her shoes were almost like ballet slippers, except for they were more durable. Her armor covered her chest and came up around her shoulders and down her arms and v pointed down her back and wrapped around her middle fingers. The armor on her legs came in an inverted v point at her hips and made a tribal design, wrapping around its self, as it came down to her ankles and wrapped around them. She had a French braided halo on top of her head, but the rest of it fell out of the halo and down her back like a large ponytail. She sighed as she turned and picked something up out of her pod. She placed a thin tiara on that had a small jewel hanging down. The jewel sparkled and she began to glow with power. She took the tiara off and it sucked its self into the jewel. She placed the jewel in a small hole in her armor and the hole closed up.

The girl picked a sword up out of the pod and floated up. She took off at full speed towards Capsule Corp., not thinking about anything but the battle ahead. She was about to land outside Capsule Corp. when she stopped and closed her eyes. She saw a vision of Trunks going into Goten’s mind. She blinked as she shot off faster to get there before someone could screw something up.

“Kakarott! Why didn’t you think of that before? We could have been there the second Teth left!”

“No one asked if I could use the Shunkanidou (*sighs* instant transmission for you strict dubbies) to get us all back to Earth. Besides, I didn’t know if you would want my help Veggie-chan.” Goku grinned stupidly as Gohan sighed and put everything into capsules. He reprogrammed the shuttle to go into the sun and walked over to his father and Vegeta. Goku grabbed Vegeta’s hand whom grabbed Gohan’s hand. Gohan stuffed the capsules into his pocket and in seconds they were standing outside Capsule Corp. They got there just in time to see the pilot of the ‘star’ arrive.

“Rai!” Gohan ran over to the girl and smiled as she turned to him. She blinked and shook her head no as she blinked. Gohan looked at her strangely as she looked at him oddly.

“My name is Rai, but I do not know you. You might have met my shadow, the fortune teller.” The girl watched as Gohan shook his head yes. The girl sighed as she watched Vegeta and Goku walk over. She sighed as she opened the doors to Capsule Corp. and walked in. She sighed as the three followed her up to the room where Bulma and the others were. She opened the door and walked in, making Trunks jump up. He was about to say her name when the girl shook her head no. Rai turned and looked into the room where Goten lay and licked her lips to moisten them.

“Who are you?” Bulma watched as Rai turned and smiled as she took her sword off of her back and lay it on the floor. Trunks looked at the nicely crafted sword. A tribal design extended from the handle up to the point, the tribal done in gold and the sword had gold and silver in it. It wasn’t full gold or silver, mostly because a full gold or silver sword wouldn’t hold an edge. Trunks watched as she cracked her neck.

“My name is Daleth Rai. I come from planet Ayin, the planet of the Devil. I was supposed to make sure that the evil of the planet, Teth, never escaped. But Teth found a way to lock me away in a crystal on the far end of the galaxy. I knew that Teth would create a shadow demon in my image to fool the people of the next planet he planned on destroying. He did that and marked his victim with the Death tarot. You see, our people worship the Gods and Goddesses of the tarot. That is why I am here. Teth has Goten.” Rai watched as Bra walked up to the glass and placed a hand against it. Bra shuddered as something cold washed over her. Rai bit her lip and then pulled a card out of thin air. She handed it to Bra who looked at it for a second and then blinked. Bra shook her head and tried to hand the card back, but Rai wouldn’t even so much as touch the card.

“What do you want me to do Rai?”

“You are a special Saiyan. You have a hidden power and your key to unlock it is in the mind. You must go on the next voyage into his mind.”

“She can’t! Not by herself! We only have the equipment to hook one person up to Goten as it is! I’m not letting her go in alone!” Bulma watched as Trunks took a deep breath and stood up. He took Bra’s hand and pulled her into the room. He sat down on the table and hooked himself up to the machine. Bra nodded and curled up beside Goten and got ready. Rai walked into the room and lay on the floor beside Trunks and took a deep breath. Vegeta, Goku, and Gohan watched as Bulma turned on the machine. As soon as Trunks went under, so did Rai and Bra.

“Pan-chan, its time.”

“Right Row-chan… Niku-kun, you ready?”

“Yeah.”

Goten lay on a table and licked his lips as Teth walked into the room. Teth looked at him and sighed as he walked over and ran his hands through Goten’s hair. He took a long look at him and smiled as Goten tried to fight him.

“Your friends are coming.”
