Long ago when Earth was young there were two brothers. The eldest being Caine the youngest being Abel. Caine raised plants while Able raised animals. Adam told his sons “Caine, Abel to Him Above you must make a sacrifice -- a gift from the first part of all that you have.”

Caine gathered the tender shoots, the brightest fruits, and the sweetest grass. Abel slaughtered the youngest, the strongest, and the sweetest of his animals. The sacrifices were burned to Him Above. Abel’s smelled sweet to Him Above and Abel was blessed. The One Above said that the sacrifice Caine made to him was unworthy.

So, the next time they were to make a sacrifice Abel brought the animals, Caine brought nothing. Abel said to Caine “Caine, you did not bring a sacrifice, a gift of the first part of your joy, to burn on the altar to the One Above.” And Caine cried tears of love as he, with sharp things, sacrificed that which was the first part of his joy:  his brother.

Caine’s father said to him “Cursed are you, Caine, who killed your brother. As I was cast out so shall you be.” And Caine was exiled to wander in Darkness, the land of Nod. A woman who claimed to be the first wife of Adam, Caine’s father, soon found him.

“I am your father’s first wife, who disagreed with the One Above and gained freedom in the Darkness. I am Lilith.” Lilith gave Caine her dark gift, and he lived as she did. He and his children were cursed by the archangel Michael to fear his living flame and it would bite deep and savor their flesh. Raphael cursed him to fear the sun’s rays, the rays that would burn them like fire. And Uriel said to Caine “For as long as you walk this earth, you and your children will cling to Darkness. You will drink only blood. You will eat only ashes. You will be always as you were at death, never dying, living on. You will walk forever in Darkness, all you touch will crumble into nothing, until the last days.”

{1}As Caine lived in darkness and his children warred against each other and their Sire’s, Lilith became angry at Caine’s misuse of the power she granted him. She tore her black soul into three and named them all. The part named Pan was the part of her who loved to fight. The part named Bra was the part who loved peace and males. The part named Bran was the part who loved to learn, males, and fighting. And Lilith declared that the one who could put these parts together would rule over Caine himself. And the keeper of the three parts would be the road to Nod, where the curse began, and Enoch, the first city. But if the one who puts the parts together is not worthy of Lilith’s gift, the dreaded Gehenna will begin.

Goten smiled as he chased his friends around the football field. He’d just turned seven two days ago and was hanging out with his friends at the school. It was summer now; the days were getting hotter as were the nights. Sweat fell down the young demi-Sayain’s face as he touched his friend Sara’s back. She squealed and turned around to tag Goten, but he wasn’t there. She looked up and saw Goten floating above her and placed her hands on her hips.

“No fair Goten! You aren’t allowed to fly! C’mon, get back down here!” Sara’s baby blue eyes sparkled in the light of the setting sun. A cool breeze washed over the playground sweeping her ear length brown hair back from her neck. She kept looking up at Goten as their friends sat down under a tree to rest. Goten finally landed and smiled as he placed an arm around Sara’s shoulders and the two ran towards the tree. Someone jumped down out of the tree and blocked Sara and Goten’s path. Goten shoved Sara behind him and balled up his fists. The kids around the base of the tree began to move behind it. The boy stood up straight, then walked over to Goten.

“You look normal… Except, you have the same eye and hair color as my tousan. Did you ever have a tail?”

“What?”

“You know, a tail. Like a monkey’s tail, but it’s attached to your body. I’m wondering because I had one. The only other person I’ve seen fly has been my tousan. I can fly too ya know. Who taught you?” The boy brushed his purple bangs out of his eyes and smiled at Goten. Goten was about an inch shorter than the other boy, and Goten’s muscles seemed a fraction smaller than this new boy’s did.

“I had one. My brother taught me to fly. And my father can. Well, actually a lot of the people I know can. My names Goten, what’s yours?” Goten watched as the boy stopped walking around him. He smiled as he held his hand out to the boy, waiting for him to take it and give him his name.

“I’m Trunks.” Trunks took Goten’s hand and they shook quickly. Sara grabbed hold of Goten’s other hand and pulled on it. Goten turned around and looked at her for a moment. She smiled as she pointed up in the air. Two figures from opposite directions were approaching the playground. The one coming from the side of the field the tree was on landed first. The man crossed his arms and glared at Trunks.

“Brat, get over here. We’re leaving.”

“Yes tousan.” Trunks quickly waved goodbye to Goten and turned to leave. The second man landed and smiled as he scooped Goten up.

“C’mon kid, your mom has dinner done! Well let’s… Vegeta?” The man blinked as he put Goten down. Goten and his father looked just alike, down to the orange gi with the blue undershirt. The first man looked at Goten’s father in disbelief for a moment.

“Kakarott?”

“Kakarott? What’s a Kakarott? Is it something you can eat?” Goten looked up at his father and then to Trunks’ father. He waited for a moment before his dad picked him back up.

“No Goten, it’s not something you can eat. It’s my Sayain name. It was nice seeing you again Vegeta, maybe we’ll run into each other again. Tell Bulma I said hey. Sara, need a lift home?”

“YES! Thank you Goku-san!” Sara smiled as Goku picked her up. Goten jumped out of Goku’s arms up into the air and he took off. Goku waved to Vegeta and then took off after his son.

                2 months later

Goten kicked at Trunks’ head and missed. Trunks faded out of sight and then reappeared behind Goten. He kicked him, sending the younger demi-Sayain out of the ring. The bell rang and Trunks was declared the winner of the children’s division of the Tenkaichi Budokai. Trunks walked over to Goten and smiled as he helped him up.

“Not bad Goten-kun. C’mon, let’s go find Sara.”

“Thanks… Yeah, we should find her. She’s been pretty freaked out every since that person broke into her house and tried to take her out of bed.” The two ran off in search of Sara, both looking both ways and scouting for her ki. They found her sitting by herself playing her flute with her eyes closed. The song was a very mystical one, one that screamed nature and earth. She finished her song and smiled as she stood up to join her two friends.

                “Hey, who won?”

“Trunks did. Hey, when did you learn that song?”

“I heard it in a dream. It was a melody that was being played by someone who was sitting on a rock. She looked about seventeen. I couldn’t tell any features besides the fact that she wore an earthy outfit. There were two boys standing in front of the rock, both had short hair. The girl stood and began talking, but there was no sound except for the music of the flute. Then someone jumped down in front of the girl. Another person came out of the forest and grabbed the girl. The boys tried to help her, but the person who had dropped from the tree began to fight them. Then I woke up.”

“Weird dream… It sounded almost just like the one Goten told me about. Except for the girl was standing in the middle of a lake and the boys were trying to get to her, and being pulled under the water by an unknown force. Creepy, huh?”

“Not as creepy as what’s about to happen.” The three turned around to see a teen boy leaning against the brick wall to the bleachers where everyone was watching the fights. He had a long brown braid and cool blue-violet eyes. His clothes were all black and a single cross hung down around his neck. The teen stood straight and stretched out. He licked his lips and smiled as he cracked his knuckles. Sara backed up behind Goten and Trunks as the two powered up to fight. The teen laughed as he shook his head.

“What do you want?” Sara looked into the boy’s eyes as he shrugged. She suddenly felt lightheaded and wanted to sleep. She continued looking in his eyes, and soon she was lying on the ground asleep. Trunks and Goten panicked at Sara’s suddenly falling asleep. Trunks tried to wake her up while Goten took a step towards the teen.

“Back off kid, you won’t ever be able to defeat me. Even with your special powers. I’ve studied you and your friends and family. I know all your moves and what they do. None of them scare me. Back off and allow me to claim my prize.” The teen stepped forward and tried to pick Sara up. Trunks screamed and went SSJ. He punched the teen in the gut causing him to step back. Goten then began throwing ki blasts at the teen’s back. The boy fell forward and Trunks attacked him.

“I won’t let you take her!” Trunks powered up a ki blast and shoved it right into the teen’s chest. He went flying back into the brick building and stood up.

“I’ll let you keep her for now, but you won’t always be there to keep her.” The teen took off into the forest. He was running so fast, the two kids couldn’t see him take off.

                Seven years later…

Goten and Trunks paced back and forth in the waiting room with their fathers. The sounds of Bulma and ChiChi giving birth echoed through the hospital. Goten kept stopping and looking at a picture he’d occasionally pull out of his pocket. Trunks had tried to see whom it was of, but Goten always shoved it into his pocket before his friend could have a look at it. Goten jammed his hands into his pockets and pulled out a letter and the picture. He unfolded the letter and read it, then took another look at the picture and shoved both into his pockets. Trunks was getting tired of Goten looking at the picture and was very tempted to snatch it from Goten and have a peek at it. The only thing that stopped him from doing it was the doctors rushing out and taking their fathers aside.

“Trunks, what do you think is going on?” Goten watched as Trunks shook his head. They both took in a long breath and held it. Vegeta and Goku gave the doctors a hurried response and the two men rushed back into the room. Gohan and Videl came running down the hall, Videl carrying Pan close to her chest. The two ran over to Vegeta and Goku and began talking to them in hushed tones. Krillen, Juuhachi-Gou, and Marron arrived and the two adults clumped together to talk. Videl handed Pan to Marron and ushered her off. Marron walked over to Trunks and Goten and sighed as she sat down.

“They treat us like babies. Why can’t we know what they’re talking about? Trunks, do you know what’s going on?” Marron bounced Pan on her knee and looked up at Trunks who was supporting a weary looking Goten. A tear fell down Goten’s cheek as he buried his face in Trunks’ chest. Trunks wrapped his arms around his best friend and bowed his head as tears fell down his cheeks as well. All the adults stopped talking and Pan began to cry. Marron felt something that had been clinging to life die. Her vision suddenly became blurred as tears filled her eyes. Two nurses came out of the room to tell the adults what had happened. Trunks looked through the doors as they swung on their hinges. He watched as the doctors pulled the sheet up over ChiChi’s body. Her hand hung limp over the edge of the bed. The sound of babies crying came from the room and mingled with the sobs of Marron, Pan, Goten, and Trunks.

“Both died giving birth. They said to save their children. Both were girls. Bulma said her daughter’s name is Bra. ChiChi said hers’ was Bran. I’m sorry about your loss…”

“No, no, no, no, no, no… Not yet! I didn’t get to warn them… Oh Kami…”

“What’s wrong pet? Didn’t you want those two to be born? Pan, Bra, and Bran… Reunited. Now all we need are your little boy friends.”

                “You won’t touch them!”

“Yes I will pet. Yes I will. Now, what  to do with the blond. She looks, delicious. I think I’ll take her and keep her as my… play thing.”

“If you touch them I swear I’ll…”

“You’ll what? The only way you’ll do anything effective is if you kill one of the three girls. I don’t think you have the heart to do that. No my pet, in two years it will begin.”

(1) Everything that came after the one in the first part was of my own creation. Everything before this one was taken from The Book of Nod. The book I used was the translated version. It was translated by Aristotle deLaurent. The book, however, is not the original. The original one was written, hidden, and never recovered. The book was based after findings and translations. The book is the “Vampire Bible”.

Ok, I hope you liked! Sorry, I had to put the splurge about the book. You can probably find a copy wherever the RPG Vampire The Masquerade and Masquerade Mind’s Eye Theatre are sold. I’ll be using words and quotes right from the book so, please don’t sue ^_^.
